I had just come home on leave from the Air Force and a friend of mine, Donna Ibach, asked if I was interested in going to a U2 concert. She had 4 tickets and backstage passes! It turned out that she knew U2 from Ireland and had gone to school with them.
It was a great show! I remember Bono climbing up a speaker stack and waving a white flag during Surrender. The Edge sat a piano and plucked out the little piano fill on New Year's Day.
After the show I went back stage and met the band and got to talk to Larry Mullen Jr. for quite a while. Larry even offered me a job as a roadie! Sting and John Entwhistle were also there.

Quite a memorable evening.
