Review
2005-09-25 - Great and disappointing at the same time submitted by BobSaw U2 for the first time on friday night at the Target Center in Minneapolis. Great stuff. The star really is The Edge. He has maybe the most distinctive style on guitar than anybody ever other than maybe Hendrix or Eddie. Starting with City of Blinding Lights and Vertigo gets things going and on through Elevation which was my favorite of the night, to Beautiful Day and Sunday Bloody Sunday...the first half was terrific. They did go off course with a couple "non standard" songs that only hardcore U2 fans would like. Then on to Pride and When the Streets Have No Name and One back to back to back...awesome stuff. Then the encore finishing with Vertigo again..it was a great night.
Now the only negative thing i can say is they should take a hint from Rush and really dump the opening act and put in an intermission and make it a 3 hour U2 show instead of an opening act that nobody wants to see and 2 hours of U2. They could then play Bad,Desire,All i Want is You,Mysterious Ways and New Years Day among others that don't get played night in and night out. Someone in their review of Chicago said they played 31 songs. Sorry but thats just not true. They play 22 or 23 with 8 or 9 snipets that mean nothing. Do it right next time U2 and make it a night everyone will remember as the best concert ever.
