Review

2005-08-16 - One more... this time Madrid... submitted by marcos

Hi! i just want to add a couple of things from the concert in Madrid... i didn't see any other review about that day... and i really wanted to contrast my own impression...

I have to say that i enjoyed very very much the concert and that, of course it has been one of the bests shows i've ever been to... but... despite of this i think there are several things that, speaking about U2, disappointed me...

It was my second U2 concert -i was in the last one celebrated in Madrid, for the Pop Tour- and i expected some greater dosis of imagination: I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THE SONG SETLIST HAS BEEN EXACTLY THE SAME SINCE THEY GOT BACK IN EUROPE AFTER U.S! Besides when they start and finish with same song: what, ok, is pretty funny but in my opinion seems a little bit forced when you have such huge repertory of great songs! come on guys!!!!

The other little complain is as for some technical aspects...

More 'sound'! It was impossible to hear Bono's voice when crowd was singing (ok i accept it is difficult to get if you are Franz Ferdinand and equipments are in half throttle... but U2 are always supposed to carry one of the most advanced and spectacular sound equipments, and so it was for the first 20 files of people) The problem is that if you weren't in a good place and couldn't see well the stage it was pretty difficult to feel the music in you... (probably the problem was also due to the venue... Vicente Calderon is a pretty open stadium and sound tends to fly away, would like to know how was in Olympia Stadium also..)

Despite these two thing i think it was a great show and it is always a great experience to be there with these guys sharing music but also political and humanitary concerns... Luck you guys overseas in the U.S that will see them soon! Enjoy!
