Review

2005-07-23 - Stunning!! submitted by Will

Ciao U2 fans!

I am an American living in Italy and have been attending concerts around the world for nearly 25 years. That said, I must admit that the U2 concert in San Siro was the greatest show I have ever witnessed!!

The amazing fact is that U2 was only half of the reason for the wonderful night; the 75,000 Italian fans made up the other half of a stunning evening. If I did not know better, I would have imagined that everyone had met earlier to choreograph the mass celebration. I will go to my grave believing that no other concert will ever come close to the beauty of what was the greatest display of fandom I have ever seen. I felt like I was among 75,000 of my closest friends. We together en-mass sang all 20+ U2 songs with the band from beginning to end with emotion.

I can understand why U2 chose San Siro to record their Vertigo Tour DVD. I must admit I think even Bono and the boys were suprised at the outpouring of love and support we offered the band.

As for the band, Bono pulled off the Opera-song of the millenium with his singing in Miss Sarajevo. The Edge was mind-blowing with his guitar licks also. My favorites were City of Blinding Lights and Elevation. My wife loved With or Without You and Pride.

The band played a new tune called Original of the Species with a 10-piece symphony that was very classy.

Bono overall was the perfect example of what one who is wealthy and famous should do for mankind: elevate awareness of good causes. His promotion of religious tolerance and saving the African continent was so very gracious, selfless, and authentic that many politicians should learn from his actions.

Unfortunately, I will never again attend a U2 concert for it will never come close to the experience I had in San Siro, Milano.

Mille Grazie, U2 and Italia!
