Review

2005-07-08 - When love comes to town submitted by Christina

I traveled a long way to see that show and all I can say it was really amazing.
From the beginning to the end it was totally awesome, even though I think that at least in the beginning Bono had some problems with the voice, but still it was allright.
Two songs into the show, Bono sang two lines from I Can't Stand the Rain, referring to the downpours during the performances of The Magic Numbers and The Killers.
During the U2 set, however, it did not rain a drop.
During All I Want Is You, Bono pulled onstage a girl from the audience and danced with her.
During New Year's Day, which is apparently somehow connected to the Solidarnosc movement in Poland, the audience pulled out red and white pieces of cloth and formed the Polish flag. Bono, the showman he is, turned his jacket with the red lining out and bowed to the audience.
Even though I am not Polish, I thought this was really great.
Before Miracle Drug, Bono, through an interpreter from the audience told the joke about a boy who was born near Katowice who once stole his sunglasses but gave him a rosary in return. Guess who he was referring to? Miracle Drug was devoted to John Paul II.
Near the end of the show, Bono waved a Solidarnosc flag, which put the audience into total ecstasy.
Generally, a great show in front of 70 000 people from Poland, Bulgaria, Russia, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, the Czech Republic and probably other countries as well.
