Review

2005-06-20 - After The Show submitted by Matt Durrant

Well after an absolute mind blowing evening we left the crowd to file out of the stadium. Once it looked rather clear to walk we went down to the stall to buy a T-Shirt. That was a hard choice in itself! After finally getting through we slowly made our way out to begin our dreaded 5 mile walk back to the Travel Inn. As we were walking back we happened to notice a small group of 20ish people gathered around a gate way. It didn't take long to work out what they were up to. Cars were going in and out, each one getting the small group of us excited but no joy. Only the stage crew. Time went by slow enough and then 3 hours later, finally a car came up to the gate and stopped. Out came this security guard who was a really nice guy. He came out of the gate and informed us that Adam was so impressed with how well everyone was behaved and had waited along time without causing any kind of disturbance, that he would come out and see every single one of us in turn. That was it then, I started to shake and my mouth went dry. That was also when I realised that I didn't have a pen or nothing! The camera came out soon enough though. I had only ever dreamt of this day, never thought that I would have to plan for it. So out came my Vertigo bag and the tickets. Everyone was very nice and we managed to borrow a pen of someone. After Adam made his rounds he informed the others about how well we were and Larry and The Edge came out too. The only thing was that Bono couldn't stop which was a shame. I just couldn't believe it when Larry went round and asked ME how I was doing! That was it then, my night was complete. I managed to watch U2 play for the first time ever with an awesome view, then to actually meet them and to get my bag and tickets signed. After all of that I really didn't mind the 5 mile walk back. Mum really couldn't have got me anything better for my 21st. 2 U2 tickets for me and my girlfriend. Much better than a surprise party. // I REALLY had found what I was looking for! // -- // In the photos I am the one with the black U2 T-Shirt on with spiked blond tipped hair. //
