Review

2005-06-16 - They still rock! submitted by Vinny M

Been a dedicated follower since 1980, saw them in the dingy little Limit club in Sheffield if anyone remebers it, reached out, touched Bono.....easily!! it's the sort of thing you can do when the stage was only 3 ft high!!!
Then at the larger City Hall venue in the city 2wice then Unforgettable fire, in Mancherster, then Wembley..J/Tree, till last night....one of the best gigs i have ever been to, then they or I took my eye off the ball and Pop, Zooropa and others passed me by, but AYCLB got me again and HTDAAB realy gave me the buzz... I had to see them this time...possibly the last just to see if they were able to recreate the anthemic, near churchlike atmosphere that flowed at Wembley 18yrs ago..... and did they.........

OH YES!!!!!! Oh yes oh yes!!! I was to be honest rather wary of their ability to roll back the years for me...but they didnt roll, they just blew them down!
The entire show was awesome, crap acoustics...no problem...crap song choice...no problem...crap supervision of crowd..big problem..too much beer not enough control!
but the show..what can i say.....once again I am a beliver!!!
The only tiny little dissapointment was the omission of 40 as a closing anthem..if bono was worried no one would sing..he needed only see the reaction to Still haven't found...40 would have took the roof off, so why they chose a lightweight song like Yahweh..well that's U2...never boring...and most certainly never predictable!!

Roll on the DVD!!!
