Review
2005-06-04 - Leeds submitted by Bryan and Linda HartOur first U2 concert. Not knowing what on earth to expect we arrived at Elland Road a party of 4 ranging from ages 13 to 40! All stood opened mouthed as masses of fans queuing to get into the stadium began their own rendition of "40". We felt obliged to join in. The set then was far more basic than the lights, lasers and special effects concert goers are treated to now, but what a show. From start to finish we were mesmerised. As the sun went down over the support act "The Pretenders", the crowd fell into silence. As Bono began his rendition of "Stand By Me" a roar filled the stadium. Things just got better and better, and we're not ashamed to say that tears were shed at Bono's rendition of "Bad" one of the all time U2 greats. Just as our day had started so it finished, this time with the band and the crowd's rendition of "40".
Memories like this stay with you for a lifetime.
Our own "unforgettable" day.
18 years on we off to see them in Manchester in June and we can't wait.
