Review

2005-05-27 - U2 Concert a (near) religious experience! submitted by Lonnie L. Wimble

The show was outstanding! As a 36 year old father of teenagers, I found myself wondering if this might be the last concert I would go to. I've followed this band since 1983, when I was in high school, until now. Faithfully I've purchased the albums, I've gone to the concerts, but at this point I was wondering if it was time to "pack it in."

As I sat in my seats I looked around myself and suddenly realized. Many of the people in the Fleet Center were just like me! People in there thirties, professionals, avid fans that were as personable as they were passionate about being there.

And then the lights went out. And the music began. They worked methodically through an eclectic set list that sent thrills through me with such older classics such as Stories For Boys, Electric Co, and Ocean interspersed with the newer Elevation and How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb material.

It was the perfect set. Did a psychologist help them to pick it out? Were there other people thinking the same thing? This is rock! This is the music that I was raised on, U2 ROCK! And it has evolved timelessly, effortlessly, and has a resonance that is as strong now for this 36 year old as it was for the 15 year old of days past.

I can't wait for the next leg of the tour! I am there!
