Review
2005-05-26 - Very Impressed submitted by MattThis show for me was very heartfelt as I do not get to see U2 that often(last time was POPmart in Foxborough, MA) and they delivered big time. Although the set seemed similar to the last tour (comapared in the past to U2's desire to make every tour bigger/better/unique) the fusion of lights, sound, and Bono's messages made it it's own. They certainly blinded us in this city with lights and it was wonderful. The music was intense and very loud - I only wished they turned it down enough to remove the distortion because as other reviewers have said earplugs would have been good to remove that and hear the music clearly (the sound was actually clearer in at the concessions). I thought there was a great mix of music as it seemed they hit on most of their catalogue to take stuff from all cds. I only wish they played "An Cat Dubh/Into the Heart" here in Boston like they did in New York MSG a few nights ago as I love that song live and have waited years to hear it like they played it here years ago at the Orpheum. I hope it'll be on the tour DVD at least. I guess everyone has their favorites - just knowing they had played elsewhere on the tour and not here is curious to me considering their history here. So the other Boy song was "Electric Co " and which is a high energy song so it definitely kept the crowd happy. They played for over 2 hours and ripped through the first 5 songs in 15 minutes. Bono was drenched in sweat by SYCMIOYO. They are a hard working band for sure. I thought the building would come down when they did "Sunday Bloody Sunday" - you could see everyone wanted to hear the old stuff too - it was so nice to hear them play that song again and EVERYONE was finally standing, clapping and singing right along for that one. The cell phones lit up for "One" was really great as ALL the lights got turned down and the room was just electric. I could have done without "Zoo station" but "The Fly" was great and I too joined in the singing of "40" even as we saw Bono and the boys sneak out in the darkness in their "V" emblazoned robes. It was a great show and
I can't wait for their return. back
