Review

2010-10-28 - My First U2 Concert submitted by Heather Wallace

We travelled on a Greyhound bus through the rockies for 18 hours to see U2 in Vancouver for the first time. I may have had a seat high up in the "nosebleeds" but I was blown away by how they brought such intimacy to such a large venue. At moments it felt like it was just the band and I. I realized quite quickly they were ruining me for concerts, no other band put on a gig like this!

Then they played Bad and I was blown away. I could not have wished for a more exciting set list. Achtung Baby was so new to us, the band had changed so much and this new material was so different and exciting.
Hearing some of these songs live I grasped just how amazing they were to see live, I knew I was seeing something special. Mysterious ways and the belly dancer--it was so sexy and Bono as the Fly was so sparkly and fresh. The interactive media displays on the stage and the trabants circling made this completely NOT what I was expecting from my fav band but it all worked! Like magic.

Public Enemy opened for them, but Flava Flav was not allowed into Canada because of his criminal record.
