Review

2005-05-25 - U2 seemed off last night submitted by Boston U2 fan

The previous review declared that the Boston fans were lame; I think I know why. I'm sorry to say that last nights U2 show wasn't the best I've seen. From the start, the sound system although impressive, didn't do justice to Bono. It was very difficult to hear his voice and almost impossible to understand his dialog. Midway through the show, the sound got better, but the bass seemed to over power the Edge. It also sounded as if Bono was struggling to keep his voice and even to stay in key sometimes.

The crowd was older. And like myself, were comprised mainly of hard-core U2 fans from the early days. With that said, the set list didn't include nearly enough from Boy, October or War. Although to be fair, 30 years of rock is tough to deliver in 2 hours. Sorry, 1:45 minutes!

Bono mentioned that it was "Good to be home in Boston". If that's true Bono, better step up to the plate and deliver a better show tomorrow night. We love U2 in Boston, but we remember when U2 pulled out all the stops.

The stage and lights were truly magnificent, however I would have traded it all to once again hear the Irish rockers I knew from the early 80’s.
