Review

2005-05-20 - I Still Haven't Found The Perfect Show submitted by Mark

I was in attendance at the 2nd night at Continental Arena. I guess one might say that I am spoiled, however I think at this point I just expect more from the Greatest Band Ever.
I enjoyed the show immensely, but for me there were classic anthems that were missing. I realize the tour is about the new album, but so are Springsteen shows, and he still manages to play for at least 3 hours each time out, giving fans nothing but classics in his encores.
Let me cut to the chase by saying, where was: 1. New Year's Day, 2. I Will Follow, 3. All I Want Is You.
In addition, while I feel that, Where the Streets Have No Name" could possibly be the greatest concert song ever, I really believe they should save these songs (Pride, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Bad) for the encore part of the show. This band is my favorite band, and at the end of the show, I like most will give them their due and say that they were great on the second night in NJ, but, I have seen them much better, and with the amount of anthem type material that this band has, the show could and should be awesome, every time they take the stage.
One last thing...I was thrilled when Gloria was played, but I was shocked to look around and see how many people had no clue as to what they were listening to. I guess it's a sign of the times, appealing to the big $ suits. Maybe they need to take a lesson from a truly unbelievable concert band such as Pearl Jam, who U2 members have stated are huge fans of their music, PJ still never goes higher than $50 for any concert seat.
U2...I love you guys, but I need to hear every classic, especially the ones that put you on the map.
