2009-10-09 - Great Band, Great Show submitted by azu2fan

I waited a couple of days to post this, but given the fact that I want to get in my car and drive to Tampa to see them again tonight is enough reason to post now.

I am a long-time fan. They played at my community college to about 2500 and I have followed them through their career from one venue to a larger one.

I have not been all that impressed with their latest work and due to quality concerns, the last show I saw was the "Popmart" tour.

I prefer to see them outside and I had reservations about the GA Dome, but hats off to the U2 crew and sound techs. Yes, it was loud, and yes the dome is not the best, but they continue to prove how talented they are. They played tight, worked through some technical issues with standard light-hearted banter and overall put on a killer show. The stage is incredible and delivers on the attempt to bring them closer to the fans. The setlist includes a good variety for the casual fan and the old-timers. For me, the highlight is the revamped version of "Crazy". The rest of the tracks from No Line sound much better live than the studio versions and I am extremely happy that they trotted out Unforgettable Fire and Ultraviolet.

I doubt I will actually go to Tampa tonight, but I am back with this band in a big way and encourage anyone reading this who is on the fence, to plunk down the $$ because they are still worth every penny.
