Review

2009-08-16 - A submitted by Mike R.

So what can be said more about this show? Well, definetly polish audience felt special that night and they had reasons. Bono created a link with our hearts that reached our common issues of faith, freedom and Truth. He sang first verse of polish national hymn at the end of Beautiful Day and in Unknown Caller, he reffered to polish anticommunism movement of Solidarity ("You know your name, so punch it in, password, enter here, Solidarity!"). Not mention the flag action during New Year's Day ;)
The atmosphere from patriotic and ideological turned to homelike with "Stuck..." and Happy Birthday for Edge (Who also get an "Sgt. Pepper" vinyl album given to him by Bono who received it from one of the fans). After that we had standard 360 tour set, actually Bono didn't go quite well with "Walk On" and "With Or Without You", I had a feeling that it was more speaking than singing, but well, there is nothing to be done about this. Absoluetley magical became "One" and "Moment of Surrender" devoted to the polish audience and pope John Paul II. At the end of "MOS" Bono kneeled and started praying. Totally amazing scene to watch, it was. Generaly the show had GREAT atmosphere thanks to band and the fans! It was kind of uniqe concert that happens in severals years like the Hawaii at the end of Vertigo or Slane Castle. The one and only.
