Review

2009-08-15 - Absolutely awesome submitted by Harry W.

Firstly, thank you U2 - I couldn't have asked for a much better first U2 gig than last night. Arguably best night of my life; stood about 10 feet from the front leg of the Claw on Edge's side, great view, great spectacle, great setlist - bit of a bootleg hack and having followed the tour since it kicked off in Barca, I had an idea of what to expect but nothing prepared for the real thing. Throwing Mysterious Ways in after One was inspired, to say the least, but I'll never forget ISHFWILF - the sight of c. 90k people all singing essentially unaccompanied was mindblowing - it might not have been the greatest crowd at a U2 gig but I think we did ourselves proud, and Bono looked visibly moved during WOWY, great stuff. He himself sounded in fine voice and the band as a whole were on fire. A couple of glitches (most notably during the Blackbird snippet in Beautiful Day and Stuck In A Moment... where Bono kinda ran away with the vocals and Edge had to play catch up!) but neither that nor the Wembley echo could ever detract from a fantastic night. Again, thankyou so much boys - I lived the dream at Wembley.
