Review

2005-04-26 - The Joshua Huh? There was one? submitted by ramccarten

I was there with G Money. Ouchamagoucha. Yeah, I'm the guy he's referring to in his review - the chunk blower, BDR. Yup, all he said. Ditto that. I too was at the peak of my game - a college sophomore who could pound a 12 of Milli-B and pass a sobriety test. Well ok, that might be a slight stretch, but I do stress slight. Yes, I remember Bono falling off the stage, separating his shoulder and having a tough time finishing the show. Every time I see "Rattle and Hum" I'm reminded of this great show when I see Bono in his sling when the band is watching that homeless one-man bum on the street. I know they were influenced by rythm and blues for Joshua Tree, but damn guys. Anyway, most of the show is a fog but not because it was 18 years ago. That has more to do with the gulpity gulp gulp. I'm convince Milli-B is still in my veins. I remember screaming, getting beer, drinking beer and pissing - all of the aforementioned in excess and often. I also remember being scared shitless being on the lower deck of RFK Stadium and watching the upper deck, mostly made of decades-old concrete, bouncing up and down about 12 inches during "Pride." That almost scared me sober. Thank GOD it didn't. I haven't missed U2 on tour since I first saw them on the The Unforgettable Fire tour of '85. To this day I continue to say that one of these days I will see them completely sober so I have vivid memory of it. Unfortunately (or fortunately), each tour it's another SWING & A MISS!!! Saddest part about all this, my wife and I have planned two pregnancies around the last and current U2 tours - my wife refuses to see them and not start the night out in an Irish Pub. :) God I love this woman.
