Review
2005-04-23 - Apr. 21 Denver submitted by TomI'm a U2 fan but I avoid arena rock shows in general... this changed my mind. U2 have become something amazing in the last few years. Obviously they are one of the best rock bands ever, but I thought since I missed them in the 80s they'd never be "that good" live again.
Well. Name me another band that has stayed relevant and fresh with strong new songs for 25 years. Neil Young is the only one I can think of. U2 is the only rock act with this kind of resonance and staying power. I was blown away at how powerful the old songs are live, and equally impressed by how hard the newer songs rock. The Edge is meant to be heard live, and Larry and Adam are one of the all-time great rhythm sections. Bono was having fun- that's what makes a great show. He remarked that U2 had never had a bad show in CO.
Highlights for me: Bright Lights Big City, Elevation (which features an amazing level of guitar distortion live), The Ocean (!), Bullet the Blue Sky, Running to Stand Still, and Bad.
Go see this show. I found tickets on eBay for well under face value, in a good lower level section in center front. back
