Review
2005-04-23 - Wow submitted by JSWe were on the floor, about 8 rows back. What an amazing show. Bono's voice was outstanding, The Edge proved why he is one of a kind, Adam Clayton looked like he was enjoying himslef, and Larry Mullen actually smiled :)
The music was outstanding, absolutely everything was amazing. What a great great show.
At one point, Bono asked everyone to hold out their cellphones. Everyone with a camera phone chuckled guiltily (and I wished like mad I had a camera phone) and then we all took them out and shined the cell phone lights as they dimmed all the arena lights. Bono said we were looking at Woodstock of the 21st century. His was making the point for the One compaign, that together we can make a change. It was pretty powerful to see all the cell phones lights lighting the whole arena.
He pulled a little boy named Nickolas up on stage who had been up on stage at the previous nights show as well. We got to meet Nickolas in the elevator at our hotel after the show. They had flown in for the concerts. His dad referred to him as a five year old in Pre-K stuck in a moment :)
It was a fantastic show and I highly recommend it.
I will say that that the opening act-Kings of Leon sucked more than anything I've heard. It was painful. Was that part of the plan to make U2 all the better? I don't know- but I wished at that point I had reserved seats so I could levae during the awful warm up. Unfortunately, we didn't want to lose our spot, so we were stuck. Ouch.
I wish they had played with or without you, but I can't complain, everything else was so great.
