Review

2005-04-22 - Denver submitted by StoneAirHeart

I went to the show on April 20 at the Pepsi Center here in Denver. I sat stage left, 9 rows up right by the beaded curtain and could see the guys access the stage through the curtains below. I have never been so close to U2 in my entire life. It was AWESOME! Nothing like being able to see every little bead of sweat! The only drawback--sometimes the sound was a tiny bit muddy. Bono seemed to keep signalling for his mike to be adjusted. Not a huge deal, though. My favorite moments: When Bono brought a small 6-7 year old boy on stage for "City of Blinding Lights." The boy waved shyly to the writhing crowd as he and Bono walked around the catwalk. The boy stopped when he got to the jumbotron beaded curtain. Bono gently parted the curtain for him, held his hand, took tiny steps with the boy and kept singing. Very touching. The other incredible moments were many, but I don't want to ruin the show for anyone. Suffice it to say the band's highly-emotional activism is still present and I was so glad. On the flip side of the coin, the raunchy Fly also makes an appearance. This is simply the best live band ever--I've loved them since I was 14 in the 80's. I would go to another city to see this show again if I was independantly wealthy! Love and Peace to U2 and all you other fans out there!
