my girlfriend and I traveled from mission viejo to santa monica civic , to see some punk band called the suburban lawns and while we waited ,a band that we had heard only one song " gloria" on KROQ came on first.WE had no idea what to expect, but luckily were up front and center with our arms on the stage when a band we would come to know and love ,U2 came on the stage and rocked our worlds. Im pretty sure everyone in the auditorium was as blown away as we were. From what I remember after U2 had finished the set, the place was in near riot for a oncore and they abliged. It was the best show I had ever seen( at the time) My friend and I made our way away from the stage in time to miss the sububan lawns get boooood of the stage and the whole civic center was chanting for U2. I have always wanted to know if there was an article or a write up about that night.Its my famous I saw U2 for 9.00$ story and Ill never forget my first glimse of the band I hold in same category as Led Zepplen .Now my son loves and respect the same music as his dad and I and he loves that story!
