Was lucky enough to get a DVD version of this show which missed the opener 'Gloria' and started in at the end of the second song 'Another Time'. The image quality was not too good (home movie quality) but the sound was fairly good. What struck me about this performance was the POWER and CONFIDENCE they already had in 1981...they had something special and I think they knew it. And well, look at where they are now!
Bono tried to fill in a gap as the Edge was tuning up that didn't work and admitted it right away....Bono also took a hat from the crowd that he wore briefly and put in on Edge's head....which Edge promptly shook off and he looked annoyed with Bono's playfulness. The most interesting aspect was the songs off October...they never got much 'live' play but they came off very well.
'Rejoice', 'With a Shout', 'I Threw a Brick' etc. were very powerful live....too bad October never got the respect it deserves....those songs still stand up today and it's 2005...that's a quater of a century folks!!!!!!!
