I was 16 years old when I attended this show. At the time the band was not well-known at all, but my friends and I were into them and thrilled at the chance to check them out live. One of my friends was a member of the church's youth group so she got to meet Bono and the boys and I think they also served the band kind of a 'pot luck' meal beforehand. I also remember hearing that the show was not sold out, which means there were less than 2000 people there. There was a banner behind the stage that had the photo of the boy from the War album cover, although it had not been released yet. I got a shirt that was black and had an image from the Boy album cover on the back and said October. It is like a rag now, but I think I still have it in a box somewhere.
Of course we loved the show, but as high school students in the 80's we were partying enough that I don't recall things especially specific..

It is amazing to see the set list here though! Thanks - how the heck do you come up with something like that?

Lastly, it has always been fun to see the reaction when I tell people I saw U2 play in a church in Grand Rapids Michigan!
