On the 16th August 1981 I was a 17 year old boy who was working at Slane Castle for the day of the concert. Thin Lizzy and a band from Dublin called U2 were on the playlist.
After the concert I helped a blue Ford Transit Mini Bus get into the traffic flow - and got a minute to chat to the guys inside the mini bus. They had had a wonderful time playing but I had never heard of them. They were holding a piece of cardboard up to the windows with U2 written on it. They had guitars and drums in the mini bus with them. After a few minutes chat they were ready to move on and I wished them 'Luck for the future'. Now an ardent fan I have seen U2 play live many times and always think back to the day I met the lads.

PS: Gloria was my favourite song that day.
