Review

2007-11-27 - WOW submitted by Rick Key

Great show! Some of the memories from zillions of concerts are fading a bit but this was a concert to remember. I happened to be in the USAF at the time stationed near Frankfurt and had really been into U2 since about the time October was released. I really really wanted to see them at this festival. With all the world events going on at the time it just seemed like one of the right things to do. Anyways did go to this festival and it was perfect. It was a beautiful day and I remember U2 ccoming on right near sunset. Made for a really pretty backdrop. Bono had this tall Lincoln looking hat that was a neat touch. Some of the crowd also had a really large red and white banner with U2 on it. From where I was the sun was setting through it... really magical. During the show Bono did some of his theatrics as well climbing the scaffolding up the left side of the stage, going across the top and jumping from one of the large speaker stands on the right side of the stage. One song I really wanted to hear live was "With a Shout" but too it was not to be however they did have an interesting mix of songs though with some Stones in there as well as quite a bit from War. I wish it could have lasted longer! Saw Zep in 77 in Dallas and then Ft Worth and they were both well over 3hrs ... anyways this was a great show no matter the length.
