Review
2007-08-29 - Bono Stopped the Show! submitted by SeanI was at the Detroit Grand Circus Theatre concert also. I think it was on a Friday night. U2 was riding high on the release of War and all the radio play "New Year's Day" was receiving at the time.
The only thing I specifically remember about the show was that in the latter stages of the concert, Bono actually stopped mid song to tell (yell at really) people to stop jumping off the stage into the crowd/mosh pit in front of the stage "or they were going to stop playing". He was concerned someone was going to get hurt.
This was the second time I had seen U2 in concert. I also saw them in May, 1981 during their first US tour in a very small venue in Hallandale Beach, FL (The Agora Ball Room in the Miami/Ft Lauderdale area). They were pretty unknown at that point and most of the people attending (and it was sparse; at most a few hundred people) sort of ignored them. It was funny to see them pack coliseums about six years later remembering that small show with the exact same band sans all the hype.
