Review

2006-12-15 - Loved it, thanks! submitted by rene

This is my second U2 concert. I saw them in '93 in Asturias, Spain during their Zooropa Tour. Back then going to a concert was more of a partying event for me. Since then I've gotten older and am a mom of two kids with no time to myself. For me, the concert was a welcome chance to sit back (and dance) and enjoy live music by my all-time favorite band. True, the concert was lacking in the theatrics that were evident in their Zooropa tour (belly dancers, costume changes, etc). but the music, ambience, camraderie and activism spoke for itself. I enjoyed seeing the band as an ohana "family" interacting on the stage and was touched to see their "human" side come out. I will admit that "adulthood" and "motherhood" hasn't allowed me to keep too up-to-date with their newer songs so I was elated that they played so much of their classic tunes. U2 songs invoke a lot of feeling, angst, passion and I am sooooo glad that I was able to leave the kids at the sitters to HEAR such an amazing concert. By the way, Pearl Jam rocked, as a local who has lived in Hawaii all her life hearing them play Hawaii 1978 by Bradah Iz as amazing. If anyone knows where or how I can get a recording of the song all of my friends who weren't able to attend the concert would be thankful. This was actually the third time I saw Peal Jam in concert and they continue to amaze. As for the song Rocking in the Free World always so nice to see a bunch of guys on stage enjoying what they do for a living!!!
