Review
2006-12-01 - Angels of Dublin. submitted by DesiWell....the U2 concert last night was ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF MY LIFE!!! EVERYTHING about it was amazing!!
So I got to Saitama Super Arena pretty early...I was walking around and I noticed that there were people hanging around the side for U2 to arrive, so one of the crew members (I think his name was Scott) was nice enough to inform us that they were not going to show up until 5pm...and the current time was i think about 1pm ish? So I planned to come back an hour or so before 5pm...cause I wanted to get a good position.
So thats what i did. I was waiting 2 hours in the blistering cold for U2 to arrive. And sure enough they did- but a little after 6pm. Bono showed up first. I was face to face with him, but I didnt manage to get an autograph or a photo with him as there was quite a big crowd gathered there...but I did manage to hold his hand and get some good close up shots!!!! After that, I didnt have time to wait for the other members...as I had to make a dash for general admission in A-Block!
I made it to the front row...to be precise...front row, stage right of the outer part of the walkway. GREAT position!! Bono walked right past me as he got on the stage to wave the Japanese flag. During the concert I was literally about a metre away from Bono and Adam- got some great shots/videos!!!! U2 rocked the Arena. The crowd really got into it...they werent as subdued as Ive seen many Japanese people in concerts to be in the past! The Lights/effects were awsome, Bono was speaking a little in Japanese which is well appreciated with Japanese fans...`Minna wa utsukushi, Nihon wa utsukushi` (translation, `Youre Beautiful, Japan is beautiful) Bono/Larry/Edge/Adam were perfect...They played GREAT oldies...Im just so lost for words, the show, and U2 both were mind blowingly phenomenal.
My life is now complete!
