Review

2006-11-19 - Unbelievable submitted by Gina

i thought that the show was amazing! The snippets of Rock the casbar, and Sgt peppers lonely hearts club band was the most insane thing ever!!
i lined up at 8 in the morning there was already around 200 people before me. I planned to take nothing with me except for my phone, some money in my pocket and a jumper which i threw away just before the show...it was a very long and hot wait during the day, something to entertain may have been helpful, but we were given stamps which allowed us to leave our section for food/drink/toilet and then return later.
Not having any bags was a smart idea to secure a better position as i didn't have to get bag checked and could pass through many of the people in front of me. They let us in just before 5.30 and everyone rushed forward to positions...i ended up getting a spot that was about two rows back (and moved to the front during the show) on the banister on Adams side of the stage...this ended up being an awesome place where Adam frequently played and Bono came down regularly, Edge remained on the other side, but Larry even came down to have a bash on a kit that had been placed there earlier.
Kayne was a bit of a dissapointment the crowd didn't really appreciate his music and nobody got into it...i was worried that the crowd would be as timid for U2 and i would be the only one going nuts, but as soon as city of blinding lights came on everyone went mental! The atmosphere was incredible!!
Coming into the eclipse area i wasn't too sure where to place myself, the outside of the runways had great view but being in the middle part was wicked, i noticed that alot of people couldn't hack front row and moved back further into the crowd. ALthough i thought a front row position would be vital, the set up of the stage made for great viewing for all of the general admission. I would suggest being there early to be in the front eclipse section, it was well worth it...i think that people that lined at 12 o'clock still managed to get in.
