Review
2002-03-04 - 1987 for U2 heaven submitted by steven colquhounThis was my first U2 show. I had been converted from the mighty Status Quo in the early 80's after Blood Red Sky being the album that blared out of every household. The UF tour tickets were gold dust, and tickets were Gone quicker than Nicholas Cage hotwires premium automobiles.
I still remember the U2 tickets landing from my letterbox, from then the only event I could focus on was the concert.
U2 entered the stage to Streets (the only time they played this in scotland that year) and soon one of was best nights on earth was in full flow.
While on stage U2 toasted the news that 'I still haven't found' had hit number 1 in the states. Bono impersonated the Irish boxer Barry McGuigan and sang two rarer concert songs 'Lucille' and 'Spanish Eyes'.
Highlight for me was them sing the song that does it for me, 'Bad'.
Some pals went to the second night and witnessed Charlie Burchill playing '40' with them, but I wasn't jealous, I had enjoyed my first taste of a U2 concert and loved every second.
Edinburgh, Murrayfield, now there was another story. back
