2006-11-14 - Vertigo Review submitted by GarryHaving seen U2 many times over the past 20 years it was no surprise that they would put on a show to remember.
The Edge was at his very best as usual with great guitar solo's & brilliant clear sound from my seat that was in the A reserve section about 50 metres from him.
Highlight of the night for me was "Until The End Of The World" that opened the encore. It reminded me of the ZOO TV tour & the sound was superb from where I was sitting.
Having seen all U2 tours to Australia since the eighties, I dont think the ZOO TV tour will ever be topped for energy, performance & lighting. This gig was close to the best I have seen from the band.
The stadium itself is huge & I really felt sorry for the people right down the back of the field I would be very interested in knowing what the sound quality was like back there.
The Vertigo gig was brilliant. POP Mart was great but ZOO TV was extraordinary, unique & always will be. I think most U2 fans would agree if you saw ZOO TV live that set the benchmark for outdoor gigs & I doubt U2 could ever top that tour.
