Review

2006-11-10 - great show submitted by andrew addison

I saw this show at Fountain Street Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as I was a member of the youth group - Fountain Club. I was all of 14 at the time and this was my first concert. We served as ushers and the men helped the roadies unload the trucks. We sat in the front row during their rehearsal/warm-up (of which I remember they played Gloria). We talked to them back-stage after the show, I talked the most with Bono and The Edge. They hung-out for quite a while and were all friendly, but Bono was the friendliest. The other people that reviewed this show were correct when they said it didn't sell-out, it was probably at about 90% capacity or slightly more. The concert itself was incredible, I only wish I or someone I knew had audio-taped it.
----------------------------------------------------
Some other notable concerts at Fountain Street Church include Led Zeppelin (early 70's), Frank Zappa (late 60's), The Romatics ('80 - that show caused so much damage that the church leaders almost put a stop to all concerts) and Pat Metheny ('83). I've heard rumours that Genesis played there on the "Lamb Lies Down" tour, but I don't believe that is true.
