Review

2006-11-08 - Two Thumbs Up Mate! submitted by Jonathan Bleakley

At last U2 come to the land down under. It was well worth the wait! I was in the general admission area and was amazed that I managed to stand approx 20m from the catwalk having only arrived around 5pm.

Of course the whole show was amazing, City and Vertigo were great opening numbers and created a great energy that was only increased by Elevation. The number that suprised me most, possibly the best moment of the concert was Miss Sarajevo, done with only a piano and Bono's voice, he even sung Pavarotti's part and did so very, very well. It's so hard to choose a best part, but certainly that block of Miss Sarajevo, Pride and Where The Streets Have No Name was unforgettable, only to be followed up by One.

While I would have loved for them to finish with 40, Kite was still a beautiful way to finish, and it was great to be the first crowd ever to hear The Saints Are Coming with solely U2 and to hear Kite close the show.

Thankyou to U2 once again.
