Review

2006-11-08 - Plan your U2 experience submitted by Shannon

I am so over everyone complaining about the organisation for last night's concert!

For all the knockers, if you spent as much time making preparations for the concert as you do complaining you would have had not problems!

Seriously, there were 50,000 people going to the concert - if you turn up at the last minute you are going to miss the start!

I researched the gate opening time - which was listed on the QSAC website.. not a tough research task and planned my arrival time. I took annual leave from 12pm and arrived at 1:30pm. Was inside the stadium by 5:30pm and had a front row place in the inner sanctum.

All the complaints that I have read came from people who seem to have quite simply left it too late to get there on time without taking into account the fact that they were not the ONLY people in Brisbane going to the concert!

From the perspective of someone who thought about the concert and planned their day according to the popularity of the band, the size of teh crowd and past experience, I thought that the organisation was excellent.

AND that was all before the ever wonderful and amazing U2 graced the stage! What a marvellous and powerful experience last night was. The highlight for me was hearing Sunday Bloody Sunday accentuate the plight of David Hicks (who has been imprisoned for over 5 years but never formally charged with anything!) and our troops in Iraq as well as seeing the declaration of human rights rolling over the screen in huge letters. It was so powerful that it gives me goosebumps thinking about it!

I would like to thank EVERYONE from the event staff to the roadies to the promoters to the band support, to the crowd and the band for another memorable U2 experience!
