Review

2001-12-03 - I played with U2... submitted by Richard the Lionheart

Hello. Um, well. Ive never been this thankful, speechless, emotional, or humble in my entire life. I had the pleasure of playing People Get Ready with U2 in Atlanta, Nov. 30th! The show is now the best show Ive ever seen...I saw it from the stage! I dont know how to express myself at the moment, because Im having trouble accepting the fact that I lived my dream of standing next to The Edge, and singing into the same microphone with Bono. Bono and Edge were very warm and accepting...I felt like I was connected to their souls for a few minutes, musically, whatever, kindred sort of something. Bono kept staring at me, looking surprised...bold words I suppose. He saw me singing along, getting pretty emotional and walked over, and put the mic against my lips. We sang a bit, before he pointed to Edge's mic stand and mouthed, "Go sing". I sung a bit and then felt like I was born again. I remember Larry and Adam coming in sounding like thunder. I remember holding the guitar up sideways and strumming the last chord as fast as I could before ending the song to rapturous applause. I cant even remember all the things Bono said about me during the song, but I do remember this, and Ill take it with me to my grave, he said to me, "Richard, your going to be a great man!" while he wrapped his arm around me and lead me down to the tip of the heart where I jumped back in. If anyone has any pictures, audio, video, or anything to say, please write me.....
