2001-12-03 - Greatest live band ever! submitted by David WestThis is the third time I've seen U2 live (ZooTV in Chicago and PopMart here in Tampa) and
this was definitely the best. The intimate indoor setting of the Ice Palace and the scaled down
stage setup (which was used to maximum effectiveness throughout the concert)
added to the electrying evening. At the
end of the concert I just sat there speechless, overwhelmed by the passion of U2's
music. From Bono's mesmerizing stage presence to Edge's unbelievable guitar playing,
and the pulsating beats provided by Larry Mullen Jr and Adam Clayton, the whole
performance almost defies description. Highlights for me were 'I Will Follow', a beautiful
acoustic version of 'Please', and the emotional encore, featuring 'New York' and 'One',
which was sung against a backdrop of victim's names from Sept 11 being scrolled across
the screen behind the band. My appreciation for U2's message and their music
has never been greater. back
