Review

2001-12-02 - moving with relation to September 11th submitted by Jeff

During the November 30th show in Atlanta, we were lucky enough to be close to the "heart". The last time I saw U2 was at the Dome in Atlanta, and we were in the absolute highest row in the top. As you can imagine, this time the show was a little different. Bono's voice was as good as any CD or any radio play I have ever heard. And watching the Edge....well that was a show in itself. He makes playing look so effortless.
The things above all that struck me, were, when Bono reached into the crowd and pulled an American flag up on stage and stood there...hugging it. Although I could not see his face, I could imagine him crying into it. Then again, U2 showed their compassion and tribute to the recent acts in this country by the moving showing of the names of the pilots, crew and passengers of the four airlines and of course the police and firemen which lost their lives in the September attacks during the singing of One. It means alot to me that somebody from another country, a country with their own terrorist and problems, would not only pay tribute, but to do it with such compassion, and to a song that so closely fits the occassion. Even though U2 is one of the super rock bands of the world right now....they have shown me, again, that they are not above the interest and tradgedies of the everyday people of our country as well as their own. U2...come see us again. You are always welcome.
