I actually worked this event helping to set up the place. I arrived hours upon hours earlier, and I was able to sneak into a closed soundcheck for U2, eventually to be 'caught', all I had to do was just wait outside, I didn't get thrown out or anything. After the soundcheck, The Edge literally walked straight past me to the elevator but he was speaking with someone, so I didn't bother him. Later that night there was an auction followed by the dinner and performances. Bill Clinton gave a speech as well. This actually might have been the first time Mary J. Blige performed 'One', but I'm not 100% certain on that. Gwen Stefani also played and so did ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, who I think played 'Stories For Boys'. There were other performers like Shirley Manson from Garbage, B.B. King, Norah Jones, Elvis Costello and more. I still have a program from the event somewhere, and it was great to work this event, a once in a lifetime opportunity really.
