This was a different show for U2 and perhaps more especially Bono. Sitting for the 1st time ever in a U2 audience that night was Bono's original pastor Chris (sorry don't remember his last name). Chris has always misunderstood why U2 chose career instead (in Chris' opinion) faith. I had the opportunity to meet Chris the night before. We talked for sometime about this. I believe that I was meant to speak to him. He & I both had prayed over U2's career choice in the early days. But I had also been praying for Chris for all these years.
Apparently, after the show Chris went backstage to meet with Bono. I hope that seeing the band live changed Chris' mind.
I sensed that Bono was subdued during his performance. And he seemed to hit hard on formalized Christianity's shortcomings as well. But he extended his acknowledgement of God with several points of prayer.
This wasn't THE best performance ever but it was U2 none the less. And maybe that's why. I loved it! Standing at the rail in front of Adam with many U2LA friends & my husband dressed in "FLY" outfit was very cool.
