Review

2001-11-27 - November 2nd, PHILLY!! submitted by Alan

I remember sitting in my bedroom in Salem Nh listing to a song play on my sisters radio from down the hall.. " Under a blood red sky" it would go. New years day was the first U2 song i can remember hearing in my life. I had to be only 4 at the time it came out. I had no idea who the band was, or what othere music they played. Over the years i would hear the ocasional good song over the radio, with or without you, mysterious ways, one, but with no clue as to who the group was. I wasn't introduced to the name 'U2' untill my brother brought home the zooropa album. I didn't even bother to listen to it. I couldn't get past the whole lemon song that was on it. Then a week later my brother bought the Joshua Tree album, and it hit me. I sat there and listened to all the songs that i remember hearing on the radio, I felt like a kid again. I began to look furthur to discovered that i had loved the band from my youth but with no clue as to who there were. I can now say i have every album and they are truly my favorite band. Sure there are other good artis out there but we all have our one favorite band and for me that has to be U2. It dosen't matter what mood i'm in or how i'm feeling at the time. There is always at least one U2 song that can help me deal with life and the troubles in it. But the true experience was seeing them in concert in Philly for the first time back on june 12th. I was in the last row up in section 213 and couldn't see anythign really. When i heard they were comming back i got tickets as soon as possible and was right at the tip of the heart. I've never seen something as emotional or as touching as the show they put on that night. From a old time favorite out of controll, to kite, to my personal favorite song that has always stayed close to my heart, i still haven't found; The show was a blast. But the finalie was the tear jerker. Seeing the names of everyone killed on 9-11-2001 was a touching reminder that we still have a long way to go as humans. I just want to thank the band for everything.. the memories, the reminders, and most of all the heart and sould they pour into there music.
