Review

2006-03-03 - U2: the miracle band submitted by Vanesa Chacon

Once again we had the blessing of seeing them playing live for us at home, and once again they prooved why they are one of the greatest bands of all times. Both concerts in Buenos Aires where spectacular in the musical and visual aspects; emotions flowed freely in the shape of tears for those of us who had the chance to see the band evolve for 20 years to become the great inspiration they are to everyone nowadays, as artists and as human beings. People from every corner of South America joined at the River Plate Stadium these last two nights to share the special environment that only U2 can create: gathering people from different cultures and nationalities, as ONE.
Two special local touches the band added to the March 2nd. show: a very touching acoustic version of Mothers of the disappeared, with Edge playing the charango (a small guitar used specially by Andean musicians) and a snippet of "Solo le pido a Dios" (after Beautiful Day), a very beautiful and deep song about social consciousness, composed by the argentinian popular singer Leon Gieco.
The feeling the concerts left in my heart is still so deep, that I only dare to say just one last thing (actually, a prayer): Please, come back soon!, don't leave us here, alone....
