Review
2006-02-21 - I Never saw anything like this!! submitted by Humberto CoelhoI have a lot of DVDs of U2, a lot of bootlegs of every tour , from all around the world. But what i saw yesterday in Sao Paulo, was the most amazing thing that happend in my life. An emotion that DVDs and MP3s never gave me. See all those things, live in front of you!!Well, let's start with the Stage, it's so f*** big, the Screen is amazing, if you never saw, you can put twice the size you think it is. When the Franz Ferdinand start his show, the sound wasn't so good, that worried me... But when the Arcade Fire song start to play, and the world "EVERYONE" came, it was unbeliveble how crazy we were and of course City of Blinding Lights with the sreen jumping on our faces started the concert. Vertigo came second and i jumped a lot..Elevation the same thing...Then the play "Until the End...", this is the song that made me see that U2 is more than "Pride", "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and "With or Without you", that behind the famous songs, you can find an even incredible world and i never heard it live...For me it was a dream coming true...well , everything that would happen at this night was living a dream... After Until, came New Year's Day, just amazing the crowd jumping together at the corus. They played "I still..." with the song Cielito Lindo been played after, in portuguese with the help of the fans..a really U2 non-song moment, that i'll never forget. "The heart is a bloom" was the next setence, i think you can imagine what happend later...The "All that you can't live behind" moment continue with a diferent version of "Stuck in moment..", diferent, but not worst... brillant!!! He, as usualy, remembered his father with "Sometimes you can't make it on your own".. Than Love and Peace or else and Sunday Bloody Sunday, i have to admit that i'm not a big fan of this song, but see this song been played by the guys who turn it into a legend surprised me a lot. Bullet The Blue Sky was played after, another great song that i never saw live. Next: Miss Sarajevo: Bono was just great sing in italian and with all that voice, at the end, he calls a little boy to go up on the stage, they sing a little bit together, the face of the little boy looking to his mother showing what his just achieved was one of the most beautiful moments of the show. They put the Humans Rights in portuguese , than came the long waited Pride, just unbeliveble... After that Bono gave a little speech , and one funny moment when he sad that they don't sing only for Africa, they sing for Peru, Chile and... Argentina... the crowd gave him a loud BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!, of course, he knew that the BOO was coming after that, he just kept smiling and sad that he sing for Brazil too... hehe...Then the stadium came down ,as we say in Brazil, Where the Streets have no name put everybody in ecstasy. It's been 19 years that this song came out and still is the best song of the concert. One was played after that, another beautiful moment...than the first encore, few people that probably didn't watched the DVD, left the stadium thinking the concert was done, but just a few people...Some 1992/1993 moments taked Morumbi Stadium, ZOOTV memories with ZOO Station and The Fly,it's great to hear "No secrets that the stars are falling from the sky...". Mysterious ways came after with a girl been pulled up to the stage to dance with Bono and later she gives a kiss on the mouth of Bono in With or Without You, turns out that a newspaper discover that the woman has a husband, well Bono also has a wife...By the way he also kissed Adam in an another song that i don't rememeber wich one. Another encore came, and they got back with All Because of You, great guitar song...Norwegian Wood was played by bono in his guitar and when we were just waiting for Yahweh and 40, U2 played Original of the Species with a beautiful video on the big screen. Then they played 40, ending the show one by one living the stage... That was my first U2 concert, i'll never forget, i recorded it on a DVD and will keep it forever...Thanks if you read all of this, and i'm sorry for any english mistakes you may find.
bye,
Humberto Coelho back
