Review

2006-02-16 - Mexico City submitted by Ernesto Lopez

When some bands play for second or third time in Mexico City things could be very predictable. Vertigo tour has been around for about 10 months so we could think that most of the potential surprises of the show have been spoiled, but that was not the case in this show, U2 still creating special moments with a very deep communion with the people of Mexico City.

We highly appreciated the effort of Bono when he communicated in Spanish, the man prepared his speeches during songs and that melted our hearts.

The whole show was immaculate and flawless, the only thing that I regret a little was on New Years day at guitar solo which is for me one my top U2 guitar moments, the volume of the guitar was very, very low so we missed that part. After that, Edge looked a little bit upset and he sang very loud his vocal part of that song.

I could see the emotion at the end of 40 on Larry’s face; although he is not the most expressive guy in the band he seemed very, very thrilled.

For me the highest point of the night was Miss Sarajevo (awesome opera singing from Bono-man!!!!).

I hope they release a DVD from the concert because the Azteca Stadium not always looks as electrifying as yesterday’s night.

Congratulations for all the people that participate in this great experience!!!! Mexico City audience kicked serious ass!!!
