Review

2005-12-19 - Music Reigned Above All Else submitted by John Gruender

This was my first time to see U2 live, though I've been a fan since my college days in the early '80's. Prior to the concert here in St. Louis, I had read complaints that Bono was too political on this tour. I had heard in years past how overly theatrical the Zoo TV and other tours were. However, with Vertigo, I felt that U2 put the music front and center, and that they focussed, for the most part, on their "best stuff." I noticed online that they did 16 concerts each in October and November. I don't know how they managed to come across as fresh and energetic and appreciative of the crowd as they did while maintaining a schedule like that. Very impressive. The accoustics of the Savvis Center were underwhelming, however. But overall, it was a fabulous event to witness.
