Review

2005-12-09 - Bono brings us home! submitted by Mariella

This was one of the most incredible shows I've ever attended. The band was totally spot on, at the top of their game in every respect. We had the privilege of being almost front row center, at the edge of the elipse (not in it, because that was by lottery, but I think it was actually better to be where we were!). We waited for six and a half hours in line to be in the front on the floor, and it was TOTALLY worth it! Bono reached out and touched my friend's hand at one point, and it was one of those quintessential, amazing, never-to-be-duplicated concert experiences. All the members of the band came within like 1 foot of where we were standing! Even Larry: they had this part where they brough this snare drum out and he was playing it right next to us! Bono played it too, which was so cool! So. incredible.

I have to say that going to a U2 show on is one of the most passionate, powerful, spiritual experiences... It's so much more than just a rock concert! People mentioned in some of the other reviews about that little boy Bono pulled on stage whose name was Jacob (son of Abraham)... I mean, the whole show was like that. Magical. Spiritual. Incredible. What kind of a rock concert has the Universal Declaration of Human Rights scrolling down the screens, and gives people the opportunity to join the campaign to end world poverty RIGHT THERE, IN THE MOMENT, via text message? I mean, there were 1500 people at that show, some of whom probably just won tickets on the radio or something and don't even know about Bono's work in the world, and in that moment, they may have signed up for something that will be a lifetime commitment to human rights. Talk about making a difference!

Everything about this show was unbelievable. Bono singing Pavarotti's part in Miss Sarajevo, in the voice he believes his father gave him as a gift after he died, I mean... We were in tears, laughing, crying, screaming, jumping up and down, waving our hands... The band was so engaging; they are really into it, really enjoying themselves up there, smiling and having a great time. This makes a huge difference! You can tell they love what they do. The whole thing was a miracle. Thank you, Bono, Edge, Larry, and Adam!! And thanks to all of you who sweated it out with us in the front: you were AWESOME!!
