Review

2005-12-02 - Wide awake in Montreal submitted by Jamie Henderson

First off, this was my first U2 concert, and what a way start. There's really not much I can say after this concert. I can honestly say, it left me speechless. For people who know me, that's something.

From the first note of "COBL" to the last note of "Bad" with Daniel Lanois, it was an epic ride. I was a GA viewer, to boot. I didn't get to the Bell Centre really early, but still ended up about first down away from the front of the "ellipse". (Where, I may add, Bono appeared at the start of the show)

Too many highlights: One of my fav songs to hear live is "UTEOTW" and it did not disappoint in person. "OOTS" was amazing, as was "Beautiful Day" and "One". "Stuck in a.." (acoustic) blew me away and "Yahweh", with all 4 at the front of the "ellipse" was a highlight to take home. "WTSHNN" was incredible. So loud, even Bono said, "Wow, you guys are crazy." He also added, "Like a 747 going off with a Zoo."

It seems when I talk to people that have seen them before, they understand that it's hard to put into words. And to people that haven't, I'm useless. They've always, to me, been the best band in the world. They've just solidified it now.

P.S. Arcade Fire can expect their record sales to go up after their performance. Very nice!!!!!
