Review

2018-06-18 - Mixed Bag submitted by Justin

This wasn't a bad show, but it was slowed down too much by the technology, set piece transitions, and lackluster encore.

The E stage section was wonderful, and if the rest of the show had that energy, I think it would have been more of a success overall. It showed that when some of the extra fluff was stripped away, there was a good rock show in there. Acrobat was every bit as incredible live as I could have imagined it would be. The Staring at the Sun > Pride segment was powerful and moving. That was probably the most potent use of the video screen throughout the entire show.

That said, Bono inside a screen just isn't very entertaining. I found myself paying more attention to the band members who were not trapped in the jumbotron. Also, some of the transitions between songs created too much downtime. Finally, the encore seemed to fall flat. 13 and Love Is Bigger just didn't work in the show-closer context.
