2005-11-22 - U2 CHANNELS POSITIVE ENERGY: LIFTS 20,000+ TO THEIR FEET FOR 2.5 HRS submitted by Mark ChildressI drove from Chattanooga, TN to the 11.19.05 ATL show - thankful that I was going to live to see U2 live. When I reached the arena, reality finally set in and I realized that I was about to hear the greatest band of my time pour their hearts out right in front of all 20k of us. I couldn't stop smiling. The frenzy had set in to all of us as the line moved slowly into the arena... it had begun.
The band came out and channeled so much positive energy that it lifted the crowd to their feet for over 2.5 hours straight, set into motion by Bono's trapdoor entrance at the outermost point of the ellipsis . The people around me were giddy like children on Christmas morning. The band was grinning the entire show, especially Adam Clayton (U2's gifted bassist). Bono's voice held strong, Edge's fingers and eyes seamlessly layered each song- it was a sight to behold. Larry was, and always has been, a modest but blessedly talented player and it showed brightly that night.
Bono, Bono, Bono...what to do with you? I have looked up to you from the moment I heard my first U2 song. U2 has been a crucial part of my inspiration to chase after my dreams and follow that feeling from the inside. Anyone who can mind the gap between the spiritual world and the earth itself has my respect, loyalty, and support.
Keep it up guys- you are only getting stronger with time and we all appreciate your sacrifices, your vulnerabilities, and your devotion to what you know is true and right. God bless. back
