2015-12-12 - Unforgettable submitted by John Ferry

I had seen them twice before on the unforgettable fire tour out west while attending the university of Arizona. This was my first time seeing them at home. I went with an old friend and my little brother who was 16 at the time. This stadium (now gone) was a great big venue and its location in south phila was close to the airport. International flights would fly over the stadium. I remember most during bullet the blue sky as Bono was singing "I can see those fighter planes". The stadium instantly lit up as a landing plane turned on its landing lights. Even Bono was amazed looked up and saw the jet above. Springsteen showing up was like the best of both my childhood favorites. It was a fantastic night as the crowds left you could still hear all of us echoing the sounds of 40 through the parking lot. Probably my most memorable concert as I had just graduated and was leaving for the USMC the next month. It was the end of innocence for me. The ride home knowing that my childhood was over but sobering knowing that I had a specific date and show I could remember for ever.
