Review

2015-11-23 - U2 Oakland 1987 #2 submitted by Rich VanOsten

I attended the previous night, standing in front right AT the stage barrier. 2nd night attended with an older friend (I was 17, she was 40) and since the entire stadium was GA for this, we selected seats on the lowest level, slightly above the field. The show was not too different from the night before, EXCEPT:

Bono invited a local muralist to spray paint graffiti on the stage set/back drop. This was in response to Bono spray painting San Francisco's Villancourt Fountain at Justin Herman Plaza the week prior during an impromptu free concert. Bono was criticized by (then) SF mayor (now US Senator) Diane Feinstein, he received a fine, and I believe there was a warrant out for his arrest (?).

During 'In God's Country' Bono pulled an audience member up on stage to play guitar. He was pulled from the exact spot my nerdy self was at the night before, and I was SOOOOO bummed!

During 'Bullet The Blue Sky' when Bono was talking about something VERY serious, people were clearly not quiet enough up front, and Bono told them to "Shut the fuck up". When he was done being preachy he did apologize though lol.
